How to Hang a Window Scarf

Posted on  |  2015-03-20

Hanging a window scarf requires that you do a bit of measuring first. This is to check and see how low you want it to hang between tiers. For example, if you are overlapping scarves, then you’ll want one to hang slightly lower than the other. The order that you choose to do this will also be considered against the color pattern of your curtains.

Figure out how long the scarf is and account for the material that will hang at the ends. Once you have that number, then you know how much is going to be left over for the middle. You may have one, two or even three ornamental hooks to hold the scarf in place. Whatever number of hooks is there, the scarf should hang evenly between them.

By doing this, it gives the scarf a uniform look even though it’s just a dressy accessory for your curtains. Of course, you may also choose to have the very middle swag lower than the two on either side. If this is the case, you might just readjust it once the scarf if hung. Just be sure that the ends of the scarf are not pulled up so there is border scarf material on each side of the window.

Once you get it in place, have someone else stand back and let you know where it should be adjusted. By using these details, the scarf on top of your curtains will present just the right image for your home.
